It is only 4:28 p.m. today, but it has already been a day full of blessings:
My husband has been suffering from unexplained seizures. None of the medications which have been prescribed have completely eliminated him, plus the drugs have had many unwelcome side effects. Today he received a telephone call from his neurologist stating he is to see a new neurologist this afternoon for a second opinion. My husband has been out of work for a long time and does not have health insurance, so he was worried about the cost. He was told there would be no charge for this second opinion!
He expected to pay for a copy of his medical file because his doctor charges $25 for copies of medical files. However, my husband has been entered in a special local program for people with disabilities who want and can work. This program has special benefits for veterans, and my husband is an Air Force Veteran of the first Iraqi war and served in Columbia as well. The program leaders receive copies of his medical records, and they volunteered free copies to him. This was blessing number two.
Blessing number three appeared when I discovered a message to this blog which was also emailed to me. I won a free kit! The reason I won was I happened to thank the creator of the kit for another freebie she had offered. I made the comment as a thank you, not as a comment to receive a free kit. When she randomly pulled the number for the winner it was my comment that was the winning number in the line of comments. I really love this blessing because it came as the result of saying thank you. How sweet is that!
This has been a rough week for me up to today. My MS has been difficult, and I have as usual used digital scrapping as a way to evade pain. Scrapping is much better than taking the full doses of my pain medication.
In addition, one of my dearest friends passed away on Sunday. I have been friends with his family for more than four decades. How many people have been blessed with friendships of that length? I know I was greatly blessed to know him, but it is still painful to lose such a good friend.
He and I have taken turns over the past fourteen years reminding one another that we are walking miracles. Both of us have come very close to death too many times. I will greatly miss my friend, but I am overjoyed to know his health battles are finished. He is now made whole, and I am sure his cup of joy is overflowing as he settles into his mansion. While I will always miss him, I am grateful to the witness and encouragement he, as well as his entire family, gave to me for so many years.
I started this blog some time ago, but then immediately suffered another relapse with my MS and other health challenges. I suffer from a rare syndrome called Multiple Auto-immune Syndrome which means my body's auto-immune system is in overdrive. This means not only does it attack bacteria and viruses, but it attacks itself. Therefore, I have developed Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn's Disease, Colitis, Auto-immune Hepatitis, Asthma, Eczema and a constantly growing list of allergies. I am told most people with this syndrome only suffer from one or two auto-immune related illnesses. (I never was one to do things halfway, so it makes sense my body would respond the same way, right?)
I am beginning to feel better. I actually had a chance to leave my home for a few hours two weeks ago, and it was not to go to the doctor's office! This in itself was a miracle because my health problems and other difficulties has turned me into a shut-in for the past three years. This has been difficult because I am a natural people person. Blessedly, I have an amazing husband and beloved pets to keep me company and sane.
I am so thankful for the blessings the Lord has provided for me today. The day is no where near being over, so who knows what other blessings may yet appear? God is good which is something I have known even on my worst days; therefore, today is a day in which I do not want to give the Lord my "to do" list of prayer requests; instead, I will definitely be saying, "I just came to talk to you, Lord."
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a nice comment on my blog, I love to hear from those of you that download my wordart and can use it. Hope your husband can get the help he needs and starts feeling better, and am glad that you are finally starting to feel somewhat better.
